Collinsville Wools

Collinsville wool is grown on a large-framed sheep with outstanding doing ability with a good base of sound constitution that allows the typical animal to produce a heavy cutting fleece in the 21-22 micron range.

Softness is of the highest importance with good co-efficient of variation and standard deviation while maintaining staple strength.

These wools have a high wax ratio that can be used in any area of the mainland states of Australia and overseas.

High yielding wools are essential for pastoral areas such as Collinsville's own station country and wools with excellent style are critical for our global apparel fibre market, which means traditional types such as 58s to 64s.

The dominance of pastoral country in the national sheep flock means Collinsville wools measure in the 0.5 pc and 2 pc vegetable matter range over any given 12-month period.

But softness is the key. The softer the fleece the finer the micron and the yield of Collinsville sheep and its 600-bale clip is improved by further visual classing for high wax and low suint.

At Collinsville we want a large framed sheep carrying very stylish, white free-growing wool with plenty of staple length with thickness that will suit the area to which the sire is sold.

With Arcoona situated at Woomera, Collinsville Station and the main stud operations at Stud Park, Mt Bryan, wool sales from these clips have featured in many clip awards and are consistently in the top 10% of sales in Elders catalogues at any stage of the year. This again proves Collinsville’s strength in the wool industry and its product.
