Cropping

Collinsville’s broad acre cropping program consists of 3,500 hectares in total. This consists of wheat, barley, oats, canola, peas and lupins.

Our break down as a percentage in an average year is approximately the following:
  • 1000 hectares of wheat
  • 1000 hectares of barley
  • 500 hectares of oats for either grazing or export hay requirements
  • 300 hectares of lupins
  • 250 hectares of canola
  • 50 hectares of peas
The majority of our wheat is sold to the Australian Wheat Board or on the domestic market. Barley is either sold to the Australian Barley Board or again the domestic market with approximately 1000 ton of barley put through our Booborowie Feedlot facility, value adding this product. Our lupins also go through our feedlot.

Oats is mainly export hay and some is stored for our merino stud requirements. Canola is all sold through the Australia Wheat Board and our peas are sold on the domestic market.

This whole program is sown using a D.B.S blow-seeder and Case 425 tractor and the majority of our equipment is equipped with G.P.S and is direct drilled into the ground.

Scott James is our Cropping Manager and is in charge of this program.
